Cliff Clavin on beer

The speed of a buffalo herd is only as fast as its slowest member. And when it is hunted, it is always the slowest and weakest ones that are devoured first. The general speed and health of the herd becomes better through this natural selection since the weaker members are devoured regularly. It is just as the same as the human brain where it only functions as fast as its slowest brain cells. As we know that alcohol, when taken excessively, exterminates brain cells but naturally, it attacks the inferior brain cells first. In this manner, moderate beer consumption eliminates weaker brain cells, making the brain function faster and more effecient. That's why after gulping a few beers, you feel smarter.
